EXPERIENCE
José María is the current head of the Firm, he leads the Litigation and Arbitration department, and he has been repeatedly chosen as one of the best litigators in Chile by the specialized publication Chambers and Partners.
He has been a professor of Civil Law for the last forty years at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and at the University of Chile.
He was president of the commission in charge of drafting the constitutional guarantee of Property Rights of the 1980 Constitution. Likewise, he was a member of the commission that studied the reforms on family matters of the Civil Code, 1986-1989. He was also a member of the commission that studied a draft Uniform Civil and Commercial Code, 1996-1998.
He joined Claro & Cia. in 1969 as a partner.
